NaturePhotographers > cunderwood  > Nature > Specific Locations > Columbia Lake (Waterloo) - 2009
It is time to create a gallery devoted to the wildlife of Columbia Lake. This "lake" is part of the flood control for the area, and is on the University of Waterloo Campus. However, it is also the home to a wide variety of wildlife. I have seen Red Tail Hawks, Terns, Sea Gulls, Egrets, Great Blue Herons, Kingfishers, and numerous other birds there. I have also seen some deer. The beautiful thing about it is that it is a 5 minute walk from my front door to the edges of the natural area next to the lake. I have included in this gallery photos taken in the whole nature preserve of which Columbia Lake is but a part.

cunderwood > Not a great photo, but I managed yesterday to snag a picture of this male Cooper's Hawk.
cunderwood > The snow has finally started, and the bird life is still active. I missed the Cooper's hawk and Merlin this morning (some others I met up with got them) so I resorted to my usual suspects when the raptors are not around - the gulls.
In my opinion, gulls can be quite pretty when caught at the right angle so I don't feel so bad:)
